My research focuses on the conservation of threatened species in nations with complex cultural settings. This involves understanding population ranges and status, and how local communities use and value species.

Working closely with my brother Michael to create and tell this story and bringing together the people who have made it possible, from both a creative and community perspective has been an incredible journey.

I am a marine biologist and forensic fisheries ecologist, who studies a variety of fish and shark species. My research provides solutions to better understand, measure and manage fishing activity globally.

I am the director of the Piku Biodiversity Network. Our NGO seeks to conduct and facilitate research that this inclusive of local resource users and seeks culturally ethical outcomes with respect to sustainable resource use and economic opportunity for local people.

Maria was the Illustrator who created the beautiful scenes within the book and brought Sarah the Sawfish and her friends to life.

I am a graphic designer and digital illustrator. I thoroughly enjoyed creating the educational factsheets that showcase sawfish and encourage conservation. I learnt so much about these incredible creatures during this project.
